Wellbeing app for busy mothers

Turning overwhelm into calm by redesigning a wellbeing app to fit into the chaotic reality of busy women's lives, making self-care possible in 30-second moments.

Key challenges

The app's navigation buried essential features like mood tracking under unclear menus, making them hard to find. Users had to manually input the same information for repetitive daily tasks, creating unnecessary friction. There was no onboarding flow, leaving new users confused and leading to high drop-off rates. Instead of simplifying life for busy users, the app was adding cognitive load they didn't need.

My role

I led UX/UI design from discovery through launch, handling everything from research and wireframing to prototyping and final UI design. I collaborated with product, engineering, and wellness content teams throughout the project.

Process

I ran a user survey that got 450 responses about usage patterns and pain points. I also conducted 18 in-depth interviews with busy women and mothers, spending 60-90 minutes with each. I analyzed 12 leading wellness and productivity apps to understand what was working in the market. Everything I designed followed a "30-second rule"—any core action needed to take 30 seconds or less.

Key features delivered

I simplified navigation from 7 tabs down to 4 clear categories with one-tap access to key features. Smart automation made logging effortless with one-tap actions, smart suggestions, pre-filled forms, and voice input options. I designed a strategic onboarding flow with an interactive questionnaire, reality check, and Quick Win Challenge to hook users early. The mobile-optimized design included one-handed navigation and health app integration for seamless daily use.

Impact

Daily active users jumped 67% after the redesign. Feature discovery improved by 45%, meaning users could actually find what they needed. We saw a 35% reduction in first-week churn, and premium subscription conversions increased by roughly 30%.

User feedback

Now I can log my mood and get back to my day in under 30 seconds. It actually fits into those tiny moments I have between getting the kids ready and my first meeting.
