Key challenges

Many buyers had been burned by contractors with inflated portfolios, creating serious trust issues. Service providers were spending 40% of their time on business development instead of actual client work. We found that 89% of users were managing clients across four or more different tools, creating total communication chaos. The biggest challenge was overcoming the trust deficit that prevented quality relationships from forming.

My role

I led UX/UI design for this project from discovery through launch, owning everything from research and wireframing to prototyping and final UI design. I worked closely with product, engineering, and business development teams throughout the process.

Process

I conducted 18 in-depth interviews—10 with buyers and 8 with service providers, spending 60-90 minutes with each to understand their pain points. I mapped out both user journeys to see the full picture from each side. My research included pricing analysis to inform our business model. Instead of just optimizing for quick transactions, I focused the design on building lasting relationships. I also built a two-sided design system to keep everything consistent across both buyer and seller experiences.

Key features delivered

I designed an integrated project workspace that brought collaboration tools together in one place, ending the chaos of juggling multiple platforms. The unified communication hub centralized messaging with project context and file sharing. I created performance dashboards that made success metrics visible to both parties, building transparency and trust. The secure payment system included escrow protection with milestone-based releases for financial peace of mind.

Impact

We achieved a healthy buyer-seller ratio within 90 days of launch. Monthly retention hit 78% for both buyers and sellers, and users rated their experience 8.1 out of 10. The hire flow had an 83% task completion rate, showing the design successfully guided users through complex transactions.
